Movers in Calabasas

Calabasas is its own city at the southwest corner of the San Fernando Valley, in Los Angeles County. Here is what to plan for when you move there, from Kobe Moving in Van Nuys.

About Calabasas

Calabasas is a separate city in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, bordered by Woodland Hills to the northeast, Topanga to the east, Malibu to the south, Agoura Hills to the west and Hidden Hills to the north. The Ventura Freeway runs east to west through it.

The city lists its residential communities by the road that serves them. Calabasas Hills, Calabasas Park Estates and The Oaks are off Parkway Calabasas. Mulholland Heights, Mulwood, Bellagio and Calabasas Highlands are off Valley Circle Boulevard and Mulholland Highway. Monte Nido, Mont Calabasas and The Colony at Calabasas are off Las Virgenes Road. Each community can have its own entry and move rules.

Local moving notes

  1. Community and HOA rulesAsk your HOA for move hours, truck limits and any paperwork. If there is a guard or a gate code, give us the instructions and add our name for the date.
  2. Canyon roadsMulholland Highway and the roads toward Monte Nido are winding. Tell us if your street is narrow or steep so we choose the right truck.
  3. Larger homesFor a large home with outdoor furniture, gym equipment and art, a room by room list or video makes the estimate realistic.
  4. Hidden Hills next doorHidden Hills is a separate, gated city on the north side. Moves there need the gate's permission and instructions in advance.

From our Van Nuys base, Calabasas is west on the 101, past Woodland Hills.

Parking and permits in Calabasas

Calabasas is a separate city, not part of the City of Los Angeles, so its own city parking rules apply within limits set by state law. Inside gated or HOA communities, the association sets the truck rules for its private streets. State law allows limits on heavy commercial vehicles in residential districts and, in the same section, exempts vehicles picking up or delivering goods at a building on the restricted street.
